CS-Ultra Features [continued]
Parts is parts right? Maybe, but with SVS every part is the absolute best that can be made or bought in any given “price point”. In the CS-Ultra you are looking at a collection of very costly components in an enclosure that defines cost-effective. One of the top performing subs in the world, the CS-Ultra is more than the sum of it’s parts. What is arguably one of the best woofers in the world is only in this subwoofer and our “price no object” SS subwoofer. The base-plate is specially reinforced birch laminate needed to support the tremendous mass of the TC-Sounds super-woofer, and the port assembly essentially lifted from the SS itself (our Plus subs also share this feature now). We even went so far as to upgrade the binding posts to solid brass and gold versions…”just because”. The guts of our CS-Ultra below then. Our top performing, affordable sub.

Integrated Base Plate with Down-firing Woofer and Floor Mounts
No matter how your rock rolls, or how low your organ goes, the shockwaves emanating from that high efficiency woofer propagate out from a fixed platform, our integrated base-plate. Not the floor, and not your ceiling. When you're in the midst of your favorite action movie scene you might wonder if such a stylish, modern looking enclosure can can really move your home theater (without moving around itself). Fortunately for SVS customers, all the drama will be on screen, and all around you in gut pounding, accurate bass. Your subwoofer will serenely be belting it out at all the right moments. Rock solid. Utterly unflappable. Once again, form follows function at SVS.
Want another example of thinking outside the box? How about something simple, like putting our drivers in the preferred downward firing position. Easier said than done in a slender column oriented subwoofer! But doing it this way makes for the most stable enclosure. Its low center of gravity and an inherently well-protected woofer mean years of rock-solid performance. Bass that goes this low, starts there too. Who needs a top-heavy sub? Get SVS and forgetaboutit!
So maybe you have a hard floor and it's time to setup your sub? You won't find hard plastic feet or metal spikes that will vibrate on your SV Subwoofer. Instead the default mounting configuration is a set of compliant disks perfectly suited for wood, vinyl or tile flooring. Because our subs have such a low center of gravity the same setup works just as well on thickly padded and carpeted floors too.
"Tri-Power" High Flow Ports
Ordinary ports won't do to vent the intense pressures and frequencies of our ported subwoofers. These are heavily flared (both inside the sub and the outer flare, too) patented, high-flow ports. You can rest assured they are costly, but just because some makers skimp by without them doesn't mean any of your SVS subwoofers ever will.
CNC'd to mount flush with high-density seals, and flanked by enhanced hand laminated black finished Baltic Birch end-caps (a whopping 1.5" thick). You will want to keep peeking under our specially damped 15" black mesh grill just to see them.
If you think these look like highly engineered bass tuning ports... you'd be right, and our Plus and Ultra models come with three (yes three!). But how they sound, when coupled with an SVS driver, is something to be heard to be believed. Insert one of the included "port blockers" (one is inserted into a port area photo below) and you have taken your subwoofer nearly 5Hz lower in "tune". Drop it another few Hz by inserting two. Great for those intent on tweaking their sound as they want it in their room.
Gold Plated Brass Heavy Duty Binding Posts
Our CS and CS-Plus have nice, industry standard binding posts, but for this sub we looked all over for something more befitting the Ultra mystique. Here it is. Solid brass and gold. It costs three times as much but this is the CS-Ultra we’re talking about! We even go so far as to route a small platform so these posts sit perfectly flush and neat in the subwoofer enclosure. Add a set of optional Better Cables high-power interconnects and you’ll have a processor to woofer signal path that’s paved with nothing but the finest materials. Fitting we think. Use spades, bare wire or pins (banana plugs do not have sufficient clearance).
Bettercables Interconnect
Step up to the CS-Ultra and you step up into the cable world too. With CS Ultra sub/amp packages we include top quality “Silver Serpent” wires terminated with Neutrik connectors. All expertly soldered and shrink-wrapped by the guys that have taken the audio and home theater market by storm, Better Cables.

Architectural-Grade. Black Fabric Exterior
Some audio enclosures and grills are made from some pretty cheap materials. At SVS we don't cut corners in an effort to increase profits. We just hand select excellent materials that we'd want (and have) in our own homes. Specially laminated and extra thick 1.5" birch baffles, and costly high-end fabrics. All still brought to you at affordable prices. And we think that logo is pretty hot too.
