Buying from SVS

At SVS you buy yoursubwoofer or speaker direct,either from us, or from an exclusive authorized overseas retailer. No one comes between you and the folks that design, build and ship your product. We want you to know you made the right choice in home audio when you buy, and well after you've set up your SVS product. E-mail us should you have a question or concern anytime during this process. Here are some of the other things we thought you might want to know when buying from us.

We said earlier that we sweat the details when designing and building your subwoofer, speaker or full audio system. This includes making sure everything is right with your order before it goes out. Even with hand-assembled products we'll endeavor to make sure yours goes out as quickly as possible. In some cases this means it might take a few days, even a week for something to leave our Ohio factory/warehouse. International orders are typically handled by one of a few Dealers in our export regions and orders there are subject to outages from time to time. It's impossible to keep all items in stock at all times, even with the best "forecasting" in the world. Note that while orders have been flooding in, we refuse to compromise hand-built quality, or legendary attention to detail on each order, no matter how small or how big it might be. We could cut costs and increase profits by relaxing our standards that but we'd lose the first-hand connection with our customers. Not gonna do it!

Currently, new Cylinder Series and Powered Cylider subwoofer orders ship within one or two days. New orders of our hot premium finish Powered Box subs can go just as quick and are nearly always in stock.  And this will be the case with main speakers too. But "nearly" doesn't always get it. Contact us, 7 days a week, if timing on your SVS product's arrival is critical. Occasionally our suppliers are out of long-lead components -- a reality we minimize more every day. Still, now and then we can suffer short delays. These are the best products in the world in their price classes, only a lucky few have even discovered them. Don't wait too long to get in line. E-mail us if you want the latest availability estimates for any particular SVS speaker or subwoofer.

Are these speakers and subwoofers worth waiting a week or more for delivery? Absolutely, from our perspective, nothing else in the audio world comes close to the value SVS gives you. In case you missed it, a sampling of a few recent reviews give you an idea of that. But if you must have a speaker or subwoofer right away, as in TODAY, well, we can provide a list of decent performers (no, nothing like SVS) that are available nearly everywhere.

Finally, regarding your sub or speaker, we won't keep you in the dark about the sound you are dreaming of.  As noted, occasional back-orders are a fact of life in the e-commerce world, wondering about your order shouldn't be. Feel free to contact us and we'll give you our best estimate on when yours will go out. Please include your full name and the sub you ordered when asking for an ETA. Some folks have many different e-mail addresses and nicknames!  We man our e-mail accounts 7 days a week, 364 days a year (sorry, we take Christmas day off!).

All on-line ordering is tailored to credit card purchases. Naturally, your credit card is not charged until your SVS product ships. Note however, if you are using a bank "debt card" such as one backed by Visa or MasterCard, your card will "reserve" the amount of your SVS purchase immediately. Please keep in mind this money does not go to SVS until your speakers or subwoofer ships, but you won't be able to access it either. Send us a note should you need to arrange a purchase using a certified check or money order; we gladly accept them! All orders are locked into the prices at which they are ordered, though prices for products can change without notice.  This does not include any pricing errors on our website; we will not honor any pricing mistakes that may appear on our website or in advertisements. We will notify any purchaser of a pricing error within one business day of the order being placed. US state tax on purchases is charged for purchases in Ohio and Michigan, both are states where we have a business presence "nexus" and the law requires we collect for customers. 

What exactly is it going to cost to ship the SVS subwoofer or speakers of your dreams? That's an easy one.   For many products we have worked out "true cost shipping" procedures with UPS Ground.  We use affordable flat-rate door-to-door freight our heaviest subwoofers (have some sturdy helpers around on delivery day.  Delivery drivers are no bound to transport the sub into your home). International orders should contact the Dealer in charge of their region, we're always exploring new ways to deliver great SVS performance to you, no matter where you live!  Flat rate subs (mostly our heavy dual "powered box" subs) have shipping rates for CONUS posted on the respective subwoofer sales pages.

We build our profit into the product, not in the service of shipping and handling your sub. We'll E-mail you a UPS or freight service tracking number once your sub ships, should you want to follow your sub every step of the way. APO/FPO orders now accepted to ship via US Mail, at slightly higher cost. Contact us for a personal shipping estimate for your location.  All sub shipments are sent with signature required so someone has to be home when it is delivered. 

Shipping rates for unusual shipping locations are available upon request (just fire us your full mailing address with postal code, and what sub or speaker package you might want). We've discovered that commercial shipping channels are very hard on audio products. Should yours arrive in less than perfect condition we want you to let us know immediately so we can take actions to correct the situation.

Special note on international orders: If your region is not handled by an SVS Authorized Dealer, we can still help.  Shipping a very large box to some locations overseas can be expensive, but our trusted international shippers are fast and as reliable as shipping to USA customers! Most world-wide locations are quite reasonable, so SVS's usually compare very favorably with our overseas competition (naturally this can vary depending on where you are). If you are even the least bit price conscious and have a tight budget (hey, folks at SVS understand this!) you are sometimes better served with offerings available locally. Click here or estimated shipping surcharges for your country. If your country is not listed find one that is close. If the closest rate is something you would still consider affordable then e-mail us and we'll get you a detailed quote.  We only need your full mailing address, and nearest international airport!

All international orders may be subject to taxes, duties and/or brokerage fees and are subject to a small handling fee for the additional labor required for international shipments. 

If you have already read a bit about SVS products and the company, you know we're primarily a web-based organization.  However, we now maintain a dedicated phone staff to assist those unable or uncomfortable ordering off our web site, or simply want to talk to one of the crew at SVS!   More complicated technical questions will be directed to techsupport@svsound.com for the quickest response to room setup, and comparisons to other subwoofers out there.

Because the same guys who build and ship your subwoofer  or speaker also support them, we naturally rely primarily on efficient web-based services like e-mail and fax.  Since you are clearly a web-savvy kind of person, this shouldn't bother you in the least.  In fact, we find most people would rather receive a prompt e-mail response that addresses their issue, (as opposed to wading through a wall of corporate voice mail boxes --- only to find out you know more about the product than the "Customer Service Rep"!).  At SVS, you'll get prompt responses to any of your questions or concerns 7 days a week, with a note about your concern or question, or a personal call back, should you prefer that. We usually get you an answer in a matter of hours, usually minutes!  If somehow we miss your note (or just don't receive it -- it happens!), yank our chain and resend!

If you are not completely satisfied with the performance of your SVS speaker or subwoofer, return it to us for a full refund of the purchase price. Just a few minor stipulations should you choose to do this:

  • Products must be returned in original shipping boxes.
  • E-mail SVS for a return authorization number and display this on the outside of the box.
  • Subwoofer and/or speaker must be insured during return shipping.
  • Shipping costs are not refundable.

3 Year Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for subwoofers and associated components.   Any product  in need of repair must be returned to SVS, with shipping pre-paid. SVS will repair or replace any item at its discretion and return to the customer as soon as possible. Naturally, this warranty does not cover any product subjected to misuse or accidental damage. Products which clearly have been abused will be subject to cost-based charges for repair.  In some cases repair parts can be sent when appropriate to expedite a "return to duty".

Except as provided above, SVSound North America makes no other warranties expressed or implied. Some states do not permit limitation or exclusion of implied warranties, so exclusions may not apply to the purchaser.
