"So as to not mince words, the PC13-Ultra knocked me on my tail. We're talking wall shaking, glass-rattling, floor-rumbling bass... The PC13-Ultra is a fantastic subwoofer. It has tons of power, useable output well into the infrasonic range, yet remains musical."

"Not only does this Ohio-based company make great speakers, it's also got an innovative streak a mile wide. The PC-Ultra is a daring, brilliant, and idiosyncratic product design, especially in its use of a cylinder to achieve both deep low-frequency extension and high output from a small footprint."

This is a revised review of the new PC-13Ultra, sledge amp. First off, customer service did contact me within minutes of this post, and I sure am
thankful they did. Wow, we went through a big mess together trouble shooting the output issues I had with the sledge amp.. We tried at least three
different amps, then came the (check AVR) part, and sure enough the AVR had a bad, or low sub output from the sub jack. To test it we hooked both sub
wires, as in left & right to both of my PC-13 Ultras and got about a 6-8db gain from both subs, so we found the culprit, SWEET! There is much more
to this story, but I wont go into details. Man, I really have to give credit to Sir Ed Mullen, he walked with me through thick and thin to get this
resolved, I thank you Ed. As to the review of the PC-13 Ultra, all I can say at this time is, WOW what a damn fine subwoofer, it literally does rock
the whole house :) This is one sub you cant live without, koodos SVSound great work!!

I would also like to add that customer support is
second to NONE in the USA!! I would like to add 5 more stars to my reviews, for a total of 6 :), again thank you to all involved..

Very disappointed in the new digital 1000 watt amp, it goes from -100 to 0, at minus anything more than a -10 its almost inaudible with no room for
any gain, mine has to be set to 0 at all times and still cant keep up with the 750watt analog amp i have on the older model. In my opinion the new amp
should have about 20db to the plus side, -100 is a waste.. Sorry SVS you blew this one...***[SVS Response]***...Hi Donald, thank you for bringing this
issue to our attention. I am very sorry to hear that you are having problems with your PC13-Ultra. The new Sledge amps do require a slightly
different calibration in your system than their previous BASH counterparts. Our Customer Service team is always on hand to assist with these matters
and will be contacting you immediately to help get this resolved...-Eli, SVSound

I bought this subs primarily for movies. I've burnt up several lower cost subs watching movies, so I decided it was time to get a bit more serious.
My last sub, a JBL, actually caught on fire while watching Thor!

I LOVE THIS SUB! First off, I'm getting my preferred level of bass with
this beast, and I don't even have it setup to output anywhere near what it's capable of. Every other sub I've owned was stressed to its limit on
every movie I watched, while this one doesn't even need break a sweat to satisfy me. That's peace of mind for me.

The sound? I'm no
professional audiophile, but I can certainly appreciate the difference this sub has brought to my movies, especially on the lower end. I've
"felt" sounds in movies that I didn't even know were there before. Gun shots and quick bangs have a completely new characteristic to them..
tighter, not just heard, but felt. Impressive.

Music? I listened to some Jazz and classical, as well as some recordings of my son playing
the double bass. Seems awesome to me, but I'm no expert on listening to music. Far far better than any of my previous subs, I can tell you. It's
like listening to a treble track on a treble speaker, only it's bass.. if that makes any sense. Less "whah!" and more musicality. A double
bass sounds like a double bass, not some giant fish in the bottom of a tank.

Customer Service?
I couldn't ask for better. I didn't
think I would need it, but alas, I was an idiot the day I received my sub, so I got to test out cs after all. First off, it was after 7PM, and though
I know they're open for calls til 9PM, I went in expecting annoying recordings and long waits. NOT SO. Got hold of someone immediately, and they
were ready to send me a knew amp right away at no cost too me. We won't speak of my stupidity as far as the problem I had goes, but suffice it to say
I didn't need the RMA. Had to call them back immediately, and they answered immediately, and all was good.

I go forward knowing that If I
ever do actually have an issue, help will be quick, efficient, and easy to come by with customer support.

The Awesome (Product): I have the PC13-Ultra with the Sledge amp (new model). Best sub-woofer I have ever owned, period. This sub brings movies and
games to life. I had things in my house shake and vibrate that I have never heard before. This sub outputs powerful and clean/tight bass and I have
never heard it bottom out. I did a demo with Tron on BluRay as soon as I got this setup and I was convinced that my whole house would be destroyed
before this sub showed any signs of distress.

This sub is of professional quality in all aspects, they don't even skimp on the packaging/
shipping materials!

The Cons: The amp controls are located on the back of the unit, which makes it kinda difficult to make minor changes to
the amp, once you work the sub into its final position (unless you are o.k. with the amp controls being visible from your sitting position). This is
not enough for me to change my 5 star rating...... not that big of an issue.

I don't think its fair of me putting this into the 'con's'
section, as I knew well in advance as to when I was getting into, but this sub is big! 47" high and almost 17" OD (around). This sub does
make a visual statement as people always ask me when they walk into the living room, "What is that big thing in the corner?", and my reply
(with a big grin on my face) "Let me show you".

Bottom Line: SVS with their outstanding support and customer service has built
this amazing sub. I plan (sometime in the future) getting another PC13-Ultra as I believe these sub's are the best at this price point. You might find
another sub that can outperform this one, but you will be spending well over $4K. I would suggest to anyone looking for awesome bass, to buy SVS!

PC-13 is simply amazing!! I use it my studio for sound design.

While creating sound effects for my first feature film, there was one sound
effect that had good amount of low freq energy. When I heard the final version, the sound effect was just unbelievable, I could hear and feel every
little detail. A few minutes later, I walked into the kitchen, which is 15 feet away. I found a few bottles of spices knocked over. And there were
no earthquakes that day. So it must have been PC13.

I have a PC-13 Ultra with the BASH amp. It is an amazing speaker that rocks the room it's in (35'x35'x12'average ceiling). I was a classical
musician (French Horn) for 17 years and I've never heard a system that equals the sound and presence of actually being in an orchestra so I find it
difficult to comment on the "perfection" of this speaker. Still, it really moves the floor, walls and windows in my great room and sounds
clearer than I had any reason to expect.

Love these beasts! I have a pair of PC13-Ultras (the prior versions with BASH amps) in our great room, which is open to the kitchen, entryway, and
dining room (more than 7,300 cubic feet). These bad boys move enough air to fill the large room with sound, always putting a silly grin on my face.
SVS is a top notch company- prior to the Ultras, I had a 20-39 PC+ that served as an excellent gateway sub (passed it on to my son-in-law when I
bought the Ultras). I also have the now discontinued AS-EQ1 sub equalizer. My AS-EQ1 died within my first year of ownership, and SVS promptly
responded to my e-mails, gave me trouble shooting options, and ultimately replaced my AS-EQ1 without any issues. I will not hesitate to buy from SVS
again in the future.

Summary: I wouldn't spend more for a sub if your budget doesn't already include room treatments (bass traps) or DSP corrected subs.

Caveat:
I have the previous model, so I can't say how that applies to this model, but... This is a very good product for the price (although this newer one
is more than the previous model ;-). I've had mine for 3.5 years and it's just as good as day one.

No port noise, very tight sound, no
slop, never bottoms out. The bass response in my room is uneven though. You will need to experiment with its placement. I'm aesthetically
limited... I wish it were compatible with Paradigm's PBK!

As an aside, honestly, I tried this product because I have a cat. Three years
later I can say this is great solution for pets. Let's face it - it's basically a four foot tall scratching post. The exterior carpet is basically
claw proof and kitty has no interest in the down-firing cone & surround. Kitty will lay on top of it if the volume isn't too high. Thanks for
using the perfect type of carpet that is cat proof.

This thing has literally caused cracks in my ceiling. Or maybe my thumb on the volume
button has done that. The rest of my system is Paradigm Monitors. Your guests will spill their drink if you wisely choose a demo surprise... :-) />
Thanks for an overall great product!

Short review: This thing is the absolute best (commercial) cylinder subwoofer ever made by any manufacturer (IMHO, of course...)

OK,
long(er) review: My DSP PC13 cylinders replaced dual 20-39 PC+ subs (v12.3), and the upgrade is significant. My HT room is approx 3200 ft^3, which is
effortlessly pressurized by the subs, never straining no matter what I throw at them. The bass produced is strong, tight, and extremely well defined,
never sounding "boomy" (when comparing to a sub costing 4x as much, maybe, but that's hardly a fair contest.) To me, a major plus is the
fact that the Ultra driver cannot be bottomed in the conventional sense (this is not to say that it cannot be over-driven, but in my case my house
would be rubble first). No more being worried when an unexpected LFE peak hits (well, aside from the structural integrity of the house, that is). />
I put the pair through the usual torture tests and, in the midst of books falling from shelves (and cracking drywall… seriously), I could
not get the subs to cry uncle (no chuffing, grille noise, etc.), or even loose their composure in the slightest. I could almost hear Sean Connery (as
Draco) asking “Is that the best you can do?”

As for the PC13’s box brethren (PB13U), while physics does indeed dictate a slight
advantage to the box due to it's greater internal volume, under normal conditions (ie. not pushed beyond linear limits) the performance is virtually
identical, and most certainly subject to the laws of diminishing returns at this performance level. All other things being equal, let your preference
for form-factor (cylnder vs box) be the deciding factor (I am one of the few that prefer the cylinder look.)

Simply put, for HT use this
sub is unbeatable in it's class (and arguably some above it.) As for music, the subs also performed very well (to my “non-golden” ears), but if
music is your focus a true sealed solution should also be on your short list of subs to audition in addition to this one (you might really like the
sound… I certainly do).

Finally, as for the customer service and pre/post-sale product support, I really have nothing to add to what
others have said, other than that I have never experienced better. Special mention goes to Jack Gilvey and Ed Mullen (who still answers the
occasional bone-headed question, even beyond the point where I would consider myself a pest).

Bottom line: While they may have a fantastic
speaker line up as well, to me SVS will always be "The Bass Authority."

I bought the PC13-Ultra a year ago to replace a pair of REL Strata subwoofers that I have had for 10 years. The RELs were decent speakers, but were
not up to the demands of bass heavy movies at medium or slightly higher volume levels. My first impression of the SVS was "why isn't there more
bass than my old setup?". But the better and lower bass was there. I just had to do more listening to realize that it was there, but only when
it needed to be.

After living with the PC13-Ultra for a year I am 100% happy with the purchase. The lows are there and the sub produces
them out effortlessly. My old subs would strain (and bottom out) when pushed a bit. I am very satisfied with the way the sub performs when I listen
to music (mostly classical). I go to about 12 live symphony concerts and operas each year, and while no music system that I have heard comes close to
sounding "live", with the right source material my system now sounds great, all the way to the very bottom. The sub has given my organ cds
and vinyl disks new life.

For movies, this sub is incredible. I simply haven't heard a better sub in the price range. If it had a tighter sound, I'd give it 5 stars. I
can't. It just doesn't have the speed and tight sound my old M&K sub had. In fact, it doesn't have the speed and tight sound of many sealed
boxes I've heard. Now, the sound is good for music, but it's not great. You will, unfortunately miss some of the detail from really fast percussion.
If the SB-13 were available when I bought mine (I have the old 750 watt BASH amp), I probably would have gone with that. I'd prefer a tighter,
faster, more compact sub.

Back to the positive . . . the power of this sub is simply amazing. I've rattled numerous objects off my walls
with the gain set at 12 o'clock. Seriously, does anyone ever turn their gain up above the factory-recommended setting? I can't imagine why anyone
ever would.

I honestly wish I had gone with a sealed enclosure sub due to how much music I listen to. I've actually tried using the foam
inserts to seal the box, but the sound just isn't fast and clear. It may just be the tube design of the enclosure. The PB may sound better. />
If you need a sub primarily for home theater use, you're not going to find a better sub at this price. If you plan to listen to a lot of
music, try to audition this sub before you buy it. Your ears may enjoy it. Mine prefer more detail.

I've owned this sub for a few years now and have owned other subs from HSU, Klipsch, Sunfire and JL Audio. I would rate the PC13-ULTRA in the
upper/middle of the pack. The main reason for this, is that I've had a few amp issues over the years. SVS customer service was great to handle the
issues.

The PC13-ULTRA is just big enough to be awkward to move. Im always afraid when rolling it on the edge of its base, that the base
will break off. SVS needs to sell (or build in) a "lazy-susan" for the bottom of the sub so you can easily turn it to access the controls on
the back.

If I could do it again, I would consider buying the PB13-ULTRA instead, as the PC13-ULTRA has always sounded kind of
"boomy" to me. My box design JL Audio (4x's the price btw), just sounds tighter and more powerful than the PC13-ULTRA. With that said, for
the money, SVS subs are tough to beat. If you are going to spend $1k to $2k for sub, you should take the SVS for a test drive...
