Questions And Answers:
When and why did you first get into high-performance audio?
As a huge music fan, I want to hear every last detail that the artist wanted to be heard. I first started upgrading and investing more into my setup around 2019. I started out with just a beginner Audio Technica turntable and cheap soundbar so the evolution of my system has been awesome to see over the years!
Why is a subwoofer an important part of your system?
Hearing those low-end dynamics really "pop" is really a night and day difference between a system without a subwoofer and a system with one. I can't possibly ever listen to music again without a subwoofer in my setup!
What made you decide on an SVS subwoofer?
The enhanced ability to customize the EQ all from my phone is what really drew me to SVS. I feel that I'm getting a lot of bang for my buck with SVS and always have recommended their subwoofers to my friends who were looking for an upgrade.
How do the SVS speakers compare to what you were running previously?
The midrange and highs just feel so much more natural and present than before. One of the first songs I spun when I was testing the speakers was Politickle by Mach-Hommy and Drea D'Nur and Drea's vocals towards the end of the song felt so alive and real. In short, it feels like another veil was lifted off from the music, and letting me hear things I've never heard before.
Do you have any go-to tracks for showing off your system?
I have go-to albums rather than individual tracks but my number one is the 2013 mix of In Utero by Nirvana and DS2 by Future when I want to show off the bass.
Why do you enjoy listening to vinyl compared to other audio formats?
Researching different pressings and what sounds the best compared to others as well as collecting awesome colored pressings of my favorite albums all make the experience really fun.
What advice do you have for people just getting into audio and HiFi?
There's no age requirement or genre requirement to get into it. Really, all you need is a deep appreciation for good music heard in its best possible presentation. Whether the music was recorded on a broken laptop or in a professional studio, hearing your favorite music on a fantastic setup is truly an experience unlike anything else.
