I needed a subwoofer with a small footprint for a 12×14 room used for music composition. Because I’ve purchased several dozen SVS speakers over three decades, I was already very familiar with their quality and dependable performance. I was skeptical at first that anything with less than 12-inch drivers could deliver the frequency range I required, but I trusted SVS’s claims.

The striking technology built into this design surprised me the first time I heard the Micro. What’s astonishing is that this heavy enclosure appears completely vibrationless when you place your hand on it. Its motionless operation is deceptive once you hear the solid low end it produces. Whether you’re listening to high-quality recordings from Ella Vos, Mokita, or audiophile high-resolution material, every bass note comes through cleanly and powerfully.

I use the 3000 Micro with a pair of SVS satellites to monitor music production and cinematic scoring at home, and they do a competent, highly satisfying job in this environment. As with any subwoofer, placement matters and can easily make a 10 dB difference in the perception of deep bass.

I also have larger SVS subs in my home theater, used in combination with bass shakers installed in furniture, which allow me to feel sub-bass without loading the entire room, house, or neighborhood. As a result, my perspective on the Micro is based on comparison with a much larger system, and I’m not easily satisfied.

I am one of those crazy obsessed audiophiles and have been trying for several years to get my system sounding right. I listen to music pretty much 7 days a week for 3 -4 hours a night, critically. The money I’ve spent is a bit embarrassing and I have had 5 pairs of speakers come and go in the past couple years. I reached somewhat acceptable sounds from my pair of Wilson Audio Watt 7’s, but was never 100% satisfied. I decided to take one last stab at it and purchased a pair of used Sonus Faber Amati Homage speakers . Again almost there but in my challenging room there was not enough mid bass warmth and low bass. With SvS 45 day return period, despite being against using subwoofers , I decided to give it a try, I had nothing to lose. I choose the smaller subs as I always look for the least amount of intrusiveness to the main speakers. First impressions were ok, good enough to further explore. Purchased the upgraded footers and that was a clear improvement. After getting familiar and playing around with the sub settings things are perfect, kudos to SVS for the app and ease of adjustments from one’s listening position. So , yes, this pair of $1500 subs saved my system and made the difference between giving up on my 20k retail Sonus Faber Amati homage speakers!

For a few years now, I have been interested in purchasing a SVS subwoofer. I have been on the fence not because of the quality/performance/build/features, but because I was concerned it would take my plaster ceilings down!

Short story - I bought a set of monitor speakers for my gaming set up and discovered they really needed some low end support. The micro not only fits perfectly under my desk, but even with barely pushing the subwoofer it produces more bass than I likely will ever need in my rig. I will be buying another micro for my main stereo system downstairs. A fantastic product!
