PB-5000 R|Evolution - Piano Gloss - Outlet - 0008

Received a pair PB5000 in perfect condition replacing 7 year old dual PB3000s for dedicated home theater. The 3000s hit, but these 5000s are on a whole different level. Hits hard, subsonic chair and body vibrations, pressurization of my closed 2500 cubic foot room is awesome. The subs make it all seem effortless. Build quality is always excellent with SVS as is customer service. Worth the upgrade and puts a smile on my face every time. Not sure I can say the same for the neighborhood.

I went back and forth between this or the PB4000 for several months and finally pulled the trigger during Black Friday. I ordered one to replace my PB12+ (farfield) and PC12+ (nearfield) configuration and see how it worked within my 3100cuft r room before thinking about a second one.

The first thing I noticed is the size difference between my PB12 Plus and it, side by side. On paper it doesn't look like much, however in person it's much larger.

I first swapped out my PB12+ with this in the same location and disconnected the PC12+, then re-ran the Audyssey MultEQ XT32 on my Denon 6200W. I turned up the volume 5db through the app. Something I did on my previous subs since the default was way too underwhelming.

Then proceeded to start with the movie 'Fury' and jump to one of several tank fight scenes as a starting point. It was at that point that I realized the magnitude of this Subwoofer.

I ran through the gamut of movies and scenes that I typically do when tuning a new set of speakers or subs and this thing shook the room and the house with ferocity. The tanks, Machine Gun fire, Dinosaurs, Lightsaber duels, Space ships and jets sounded like they were happening IN the room like I've never heard before. THIS is what I was after for the past few years.

That said, I will say that there seemed to be something missing in certain scenes that I had before and so I rolled out a PC and REW software with a Umik-1 Mic to find out. Sure enough I had several peaks and nulls often…

These subs are the real deal! I have 4 of them and the bass is incredibly effortless. Having 4 and not being able to localize the bass is just such a cool thing to be able to experience at home. I love these things! Subwoofers are my favorite component to a home theater system. Being able to have effortless low frequency extension is a crucial aspect of home theater. When the T Rex or Godzilla are walking around….I want it to FEEL like they are in my room. These subs deliver that in spades!

Good morning the subwoofer is off the chart. It produces a mind blowing amount of base which I am extremely happy with I previously wired a 20 amp circuit for my original location of the first subwoofer for your subwoofer in the front of the theater room is on a 15 amp circuit When I’m pushing power it does cause the lights to flicker when they are turned on while playing music. With that exception, I am blown away with the reproduction of base. This subwoofer produces thinking about maybe getting a second one to replace my old valentine which is on a 20 amp circuit at some point. Thank you for an amazing product.
