    I had zero issues setting up Play Fi on my iPhone to use as remote. Easy to do. The sound is incredible. I’m pushing two outlet prime books and the now discontinued NSD sub. Paired with this amp, I’m getting clarity and fidelity I never had. I’ll give one example. I listen to a lot of jazz on vinyl. Low upright bass notes on the e string are clear and distinct, nothing muddy or muddled. Scott LaFaro solos with Bill Evans absolutely blowing my mind. The music is so clear and punchy. Electronica same thing. Total clarity and punchy. And here’s the dirty secret: customer service verified for me that the Soundbase is the same amp as the Soundbase Pro, just less features and no remote. No brainer, folks. Caveat emptor: I don’t use wireless speakers so I can’t speak to that. What I streamed from bandcamp on my phone to the amp (High on Fire) did have me ready to run through a brick wall, tho.

    Does what I needed it to do! Finally!

    So I was looking for a solution to output Hi-Res 24bit/192khz audio to my current home theater setup with my Denon AVR. The team at SVS told me to use the output left and right analog rca to my Denon. I used the cd input on the Denon. Using streaming service content (Qobuz/Tidal) for direct 2 channel listening. The first gen soundbase did just that for me.

    In terms of functionality, the set up was a terrible experience with the DTS FI app. Connecting the device to wifi and to the app took 30 mins to connect. After finally getting it to pair up to my network and app, I was able to try out streaming hi res. Had to jump over a couple hoops and set the app to get it to output hi-res in the app but i don't know if that's SVS issue. More of a DTS Play FI app issue. Once I got it working i started hearing real hi res audio with TOOLs Fear Inoculum. WOW. The DAC is working as intended. Lastly after leaving and coming back to connect to the base with my phone it wouldn't connect at all. It was until I reseated the power cable to to reboot it connected automatically. After that night its been connecting normal now.

    For me this was the icing on the cake to get good quality music playing now. For now I am complete.

    Worked really well about half the time

    I really wanted this product to work out. I tried for about six months to live with the random failed connectivity of Play-Fi with the SVS Soundbase. I'm a big SVS fan. I own tower speakers, satellites, and sub-woofers from SVS. The Soundbase device would allow me to connect with Play-Fi about 50 percent of the time. The other 50 percent Play-Fi could not find the Soundbase. I would either have to redo the initial setup, restart the Soundbase and my iOS device, or wait awhile and try to connect when trying to play music through the Soundbase. I worked with SVS support and the support person basically represented that my WIFI network needed an upgrade or was not configured correctly. The support person was never able to explain why it worked perfectly the other 50 percent of the time. When the Soundbase did work, the Play-Fi app worked reasonably well. I really appreciated the Soundbase could deliver a very good sound stage and stereo imaging. I never felt like the Soundbase lacked power or dynamic response.

    Underwhelming

    Just not a good experience all around. Bad user interface, no remote, overrated power & calling it a steamer is dubious at best. I love SVS speakers (a lot) but their is a dud.
