    Dual SB17's are simply fantastix\c for BOTH music and Home Theater

    Could not be more pleased with the arrival of our new dual SB17 SVS subs!! (replacing 19 year old PB13's with the STA1200D amp upgrade that were wonderful in their own way) The SB17's brought the sealed musical low end that I expected, and even exceeded my high expectations. These two new SB17 subwoofers represent the 9th and 10th subwoofers purchased over the years from SVS! Customer service and product performance and build quality all exceptional!! DIY custom built in system with (5) dedicated 20 amp circuits. Currently running dual Classe Delta 600 mono-block amps for the mains with Cardas Audio clear Cygnus speaker cables and interconnects - Summit Audio 11 channel amp for home theater- Marantz 15.4 AV-10 processor - Revel Ultima Salon-2 main speakers - (6) Performa3 S206 surround-channels - (2) Revel PerformaBe M126B rears - Massive Revel C426Be center channel, and dual SVS SB17 Ultra R-Evolution subs built in front - Panasonic-DP-UB9000 - UHD Blu-Ray player - Samsung QN900F 85" 8K

    From Deep Bass to True Full-Range: The SB17-Ultra R Transformed My 2.1 System

    The SB17-Ultra R has proven to be a genuinely transformative addition to my 2.1 system. My setup consists of a Marantz LINK 10n preamplifier, Marantz MA9S2 monoblocks driving Definitive Technology DM80 loudspeakers, with the SB17-Ultra R handling the low frequencies.

    What impressed me most is that the SB17-Ultra R is not simply about producing more bass, it is about reproducing the bottom octave with authority, refinement, and control. The extension is extraordinary, yet the presentation remains remarkably tight and articulate. Individual bass notes have texture and pitch definition, with none of the overhang or one-note character that can make a subwoofer sound disconnected from the main speakers.

    In a 2.1 configuration, seamless integration is everything, and once properly dialed in, the SB17-Ultra R virtually disappears as a separate source. Instead, the entire system gains greater scale, weight, and effortless dynamics. The DM80s sound more complete, while acoustic recordings have greater body and natural resonance, orchestral music gains a deeper foundation, and cinematic material delivers tremendous impact without becoming overpowering.

    Dont be fooled, this is a phenomenal musical sub!

    I have had SV subwoofers since 2004, starting with the PB2-Plus line. Everyone knows their subs hit hard and deep for home theater content and that’s why I went with them originally.

    Recently I upgraded my two channel space and got a pair of Wilson Audio MAXX series 3 loudspeakers, paired with a D’agastino Progression pre-amp and stereo amplifier. My vocabulary cant adequately capture what it is like listening to music on these speakers, but I found that there was a bit more bass extension in my room that was lacking and wanted a subwoofer to help bridge the gap. I reached out to my dealer who recommended REL, saying it would pair perfectly with my system.

    Unfortunately, the REL models I was looking at were simply too big for the space I had. Then I came across a glowing review of the SB17-R, and its dimensions were exactly perfect for the space I had. I talked to SVS, expressing my concerns that their subwoofer, while excellent on paper, may not be fast and accurate enough to keep up with my system. I was reassured that they would happily put up their subwoofer against any of the best and know it was more than capable.

    So I ordered one, set it up, and let me tell you, it’s outstanding. It’s not working hard in my set up but it’s filling in the low end quite nicely and added just that little bit I wanted to feel the music in my chest. Couldn’t be happier.

    In general very nicely done! Great sound and looks. One question - The first thing I had to do when I received the sub was to upgrade the firmware before I could do anything else. Couldn't that have been done at the factory before it left you?
