How Does De-coupling Improve Performance?

Decoupling is making the interaction between a subwoofer and floor so weak that virtually no energy is transferred between them. The SVS SoundPath Subwoofer Isolation System features rigorously tested optimized durometer elastomer feet that significantly reduces the transmission of subwoofer energy through your floor and walls. This allows low frequency effects to be transferred through the air where they can be felt, resulting in tighter and cleaner sounding bass, no more distracting buzz or rattle from the room, and better sonic clarity and dynamics.

Be A Better Neighbor

Infrasonic jolts and subterranean levels of bass bring our entertainment to life, but they can also disturb neighbors and roommates because the longer, low frequency sound waves travel more effortlessly through walls and floors than mid-range and high frequency waves. It’s the reason your neighbor can hear a helicopter descending much louder than glass breaking. The SVS SoundPath Isolation System drastically reduces the bass notes and low frequency vibrations your neighbors and roommates will notice.

A Discreet, Affordable Alternative To Subwoofer Platforms And Risers

The SVS SoundPath Subwoofer Isolation System feet come in a variety of thread sizes that easily screw into most subwoofer’s existing threaded inserts and subtly elevate the sub enclosure on a cushion of elastomer encased in stainless steel. The understated feet are a stylish, more effective alternative to bulky risers and platforms, at a fraction of the cost and also work with some turntables and other components.

Reviews Summary
Customers say these isolation feet effectively reduce vibrations and rattling from walls, floors, and nearby objects. Many reviews mention noticeably tighter, cleaner bass with improved clarity and punch. Users report easy installation and sturdy, well-made construction. Common feedback includes reduced floor-coupled resonance, especially on hardwood and suspended floors. Some note the feet prevent subwoofers from moving during use. While most praise the performance, a few suggest including protective pads between feet and cabinets, and some mention installation details like screw sizing could be improved.

    Works as advertised for me

The isolation feet have tightened up the bass and my walls don't shake anymore. Great product.

    These pads/feet actually work.

I don't know why SVS doesn't just invlclude these by default. They make a palpable difference. People in the industry who review SVS subs need to always be sent these. The ONLY ISSUE is that people are starting to use these as feet for loudspeakers, and need to be offered the option to but short M8 metric thread screws. For instance I have them as feet for my Sonus faber Sonetto G2.

    Exactly what I needed

The first image shows the JTR Captivator 2400 ULF sitting in the front soundstage where it belongs. No SVS isolation feet installed yet, and nothing playing.

The second image shows what happened during a movie. The subwoofer had walked about 12 inches across the floor, turned itself toward the left channel speaker, and started vibrating against it.

Annoying is an understatement when you have to stop a movie just to wrestle a subwoofer back into position.

So I added SVS isolation feet.

A few install notes: if I were doing this again, I probably would not stop at four feet. Six minimum, and eight would likely be better for a sub this size and weight. I also think a larger T-nut (not supplied) may have been a better choice, because when I first tried sliding the subwoofer into position, one of the T-nuts pulled out.

The solve was simple enough: get the subwoofer positioned first, then tilt it up into place instead of trying to slide it around after the feet were installed.

The good news: after three or four hours of music above reference level, plus watching Dune: Part Two at reference level, the sub has not walked anymore.

And maybe it’s placebo, but the bass actually sounds a little better in the room now. Something feels different. It’s more than just the relief of not having to get up and move the sub back where it belongs.

Home theater problems, solved one vibration at a time.
