Sounds and looks amazing

"No real cons from me on the prime series speakers. I was replacing some decent Polk tower and center speakers and I'm very happy I made the upgrade. Music and movies sound so much better. The piano gloss black looks very sexy as well, matching my LG CX 65" well. 10/10 for the price."

Now all I need is to replace my 4 surrounds!

Absolutely everything I wanted, and I replaced a damn good center in the process that I'll repurpose to another room. Couldn't be happier. The clarity and dynamics of this center make this easily the best center I've purchased, and I'm a 53-year old lifelong audiophile. My only complaint is that I didn't pull the trigger on this a year ago when I first decided to replace my center. With my SVS Ultra Towers and PB-3000, my system is rocking. Now all I need is to replace my 4 surrounds, which will happen in due time, with SVS Ultras and a couple of satellites for the pool (if they fix the app). SVS customer service is best-in-class, without question, and these guys ship faster than even Amazon. Ordered on a Thursday or Friday. Expected to wait about a week to receive but was pleasantly surprised when the center showed up on Sunday. Perfect experience. Perfect center. Perfect shopping experience. A+ all the way around.

The Center channel is super important in Dolby Surround for movies and TV

The Ultra Center is an amazing speaker. It gives super clear dialogue and awesome sound in music. The Center channel is super important in Dolby Surround for movies and TV and you can't get better than the SVS Ultra Center. And the SVS customer service is the absolute best. You get 45 days to try it in your setup and you know why? Because SVS knows that once you hear it you will want to keep it. I did.

The sound is massive, even when turned down

Awesome! I had no idea my little Energy Take 5.1 surround system was so puny. My wife bought me an SVS SB-1000 Pro subwoofer for my birthday back in January 2023 and it changed the sound immensely. Then because of the amazing change in sound that it made I decided to purchase a Prime Center and it actually started us listening to music again. The sound is massive, even when turned down, I can't wait to get my Prime satellites to replace the four Take 5 satellites and I plan on replacing the Take 5 subwoofer with another SB-1000 Pro as well. I know it will be almost unbelievable. It is amazing what I was missing in my old music, especially the SACDs and DVDs, and the movies, wow!

Our Director of Technology, Ed Mullen, shares insights on why center channel speakers are so important in every home theater system and placement tips.

FAQ

Yes. Center channel speakers carry roughly 70% of the entire soundtrack at any given time, including nearly all dialog and musical vocals. They also support a seamless soundstage with the front left and right main speakers, allowing sounds to flow precisely from any point between them while conveying sonic transitions smoothly and accurately. It’s definitely not the speaker you want to skimp on. Yes. If you are running a multichannel home theater like a 5.1 system, the center channel speakers handle nearly all the dialog and vocals and form the center point for all front stage action. It’s what anchors the sound to the action happening onscreen in a convincing way when watching movies or television. Center channel speakers are great for dialog and musical vocals in a multichannel surround sound application. For music listening in a 2-channel stereo application, instrumentals and vocals are layered at different output levels to the left and right channels and not to the center channel, thus the center speaker is not as important.. The best center channel speakers utilize a 3-way driver design with a vertically aligned midrange and tweeter in the middle flanked by a bass woofer on both sides that allows it to perform more like a full-range loudspeaker. This design minimizes off-axis lobing and offers a larger “Sweet spot” and better reproduction of the vocal frequency range. 3-way center channel speakers because they deliver a broader sweet spot with clearer dialog and better dispersion characteristics across the front stage. 2-way center channel speakers are susceptible to signal lobing which creates a beaming effect with the sound. This results in more directional output and a smaller sweet spot. For center channel speaker placement tips, visit here.
