Voice Coil
A voice coil is a coil of wire present in the magnetic gap of a speaker or subwoofer that receives an electrical current to move air via a speaker’s drivers, thus creating sound. The amount and direction of the current through that coil of wire makes an electro-magnetic field which reacts against the permanent magnetic field of the motor magnets. These forces push and pull on the voice coil, which moves the driver cone at precise speeds and excursion lengths to reproduce the breathiness of a female vocalist, a movie explosion or a musical instrument.
SVS speakers and subwoofers use the highest quality materials in the voice coil designs to ensure accurate signal reproduction and pinpoint speed in transients.
